Jamel Shabazz documented a movement, their clothes, their dance and their stance, in one perfect book called Back in the Days, which I posted about a few weeks ago. The book is being re-released and just in time legendary director Charlie Ahearn who created the cult classic Wild Style in creating a documentary on the man behind the stills, Jamel Shabazz Street Photographer.

PARKLIFE 2011

Parklife, one of Australia’s longest running and most popular music festivals announced its 2011 artist lineup today. Known as the festival that kicks off the Spring/Summer music season in Australia, Parklife is held in beautiful inner-city parks and botanic gardens in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth in September & October

Enigmatic songstress Lykke Li will be heading to Australian shores to perform material from her critically acclaimed album Wounded Rhymes, proving her to be one of the hottest properties on the underground right now.

Undoubtedly one of the most respected acts in electronic music has to be Digitalism – and this time the boys are back with new album I Love You Dude, rumoured to be their best yet. The production team behind this film takes the viewer on a journey from London to Los Angeles and from Tokyo to Paris to reveal the history, talk with graphic design legends and shed the light on all sorts of activism that used T-Shirts to spread messages and grow alongside freedom movements.

Thursday 23rd June marks the opening night of The Outposts seventh annual ‘I used to skate once’ art show.  If you’re not familiar with the concept, the premise is: skaters past and present customise a blank skateboard which will be on display at the show and available for purchase.  The venue for this years opening party is The Zoo on Ann Street, in Fortitude Valley.  Festivities will run from 7pm to 1am and we’ll be there to view the art, take stills and video and have a drink of course.
